How to open a CSV file
- Choose a CSV, TSV or TXT file.
- The table opens straight away. The delimiter is detected for you.
- Select a column name to sort, or type in the box under it to filter.
Good to know
- Comma, semicolon, tab and pipe delimiters are supported. You can change the delimiter if the columns look wrong.
- Values are shown exactly as they are in the file, so leading zeros such as 00123 are kept. Formulas are shown as text and never run.
- UTF-8, UTF-16 and older Windows (Western) files are read. Accented letters show correctly in all three.
- Files up to 50 MB and 500,000 rows can be opened. Very large files work best on a computer.
- The row number on the left is the line in the original file, so you can find a row again after sorting.
Frequently asked questions
Is my file uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file on your device. It is not sent to Filecon's servers, and nothing is saved after you close the page.
Can I edit the file?
No. This is a viewer. Download original gives you back the exact file you opened.
Why is everything in one column?
The file probably uses a different delimiter than the one detected. Choose it from the Delimiter list.
